Search Engine Positioning IV - Using
Link Relevancy to Raise Your Site Ranking With the Search Engines
Link Relevancy - Topic-Sensitive PageRank to Increase Search Results
for your Pages
In the last section, we gave some insight on how to accomplish
this link relevancy strategy. I’ll return to our affiliate
strategy page. Not only was the page content written to rank
highly on searches for affiliate strategy, but also on the right
side of the page are links to other sites that talk about affiliate
strategy. We researched these links to make sure they lead to information,
and were not so much product pitches to get our visitors to buy
things. I also made mention that the file names themselves contained
the words affiliate strategy.
Once we created the page content for these affiliate strategy pages,
we dropped by Google and did a search on affiliate strategy. We
then began to visit each one of the top links to see what those
pages said. The ones with a PR of at least five, and had more information
about affiliate strategy were added to a link list. To be truthful,
at times we have drilled down as many as 10 pages of results to
get the number of links we feel we need. At present, we strive to
find at least 10 to 25 page links with high quality content related
to our page topic. Once we reach that goal, we then add the links
to the pages and upload them live to our server.
I will admit that this is an experiment in progress, and we are
presently waiting for Google to update to see what will happen.
Over all, this strategy follows what the search engines seem to
want. Moreover, I believe the results will be more than favorable.
Understand that link relevancy is not where it all stops. There
are more factors to getting your pages to rank well and show up
in search results. Keyword density, link popularity, and keyword
placement also define where a page will rank, and are not to be
overlooked. If any one of these other areas is low or weak, then
your pages will suffer and not gain higher search ranks. This article
portrays what we believe will help to bring your search results
ranking higher.
Summary
Link relevancy is the relevancy of where your outgoing links go.
Do they go to topics similar to your site theme or are they to unrelated
topics. If your present visitor were reading information about apples,
then why would they follow links to oranges? That is the basics
of link relevancy. The more related your outgoing links are to the
topic on your page, the better the chance is that your page could
be an authority to finding such information. If Google deems it
an authority, then you will reap the rewards of higher placement
in search results for that topic.
By targeting your pages to link with other resources for a particular
topic, you set yourself up to become an authority on that topic.
By becoming an authority, you increase traffic to your site through
a higher ranking in the search results. By doing a search for your
topic at Google and linking to the top 10 to 25 sites listed, you
are setting yourself up to be viewed as a potential authority on
the topic. Be careful what you link to though. Make sure that each
page has a Google PR of at least five. If you don’t know how to
find the Google PR of a page, then all you need is to download the
Google toolbar. It lists PR in a graph on the bar.
