and we had the opportunity to correspond with Russell Rockefeller.
Mr. Rockefeller was fairly candid about who OptInPlus
is and what they do. He is the CEO for OptInPlus, and we were impressed
that he took some time out of his busy schedule to answer our questions.
He also responded in a very timely manner. Our personal insight
to this company; if they handle customers this promptly, then OptInPlus

SCGP: Who are you?
Mr. Rockefeller: My name is Russell Rockefeller, I am the CEO
of OptInPlus.com We are an opt in email firm.
SCGP: What is your service?
Mr. Rockefeller: We offer a range of services including list
rentals, co-registration, data management, tracking, ad design,
landing page design, consulting, and so on.
SCGP: How long have you been in business?
Mr. Rockefeller: Opt In Plus is a NEW service, although the
executives at the company have eight plus years experience in the
field. The primary objective of Opt In Plus is to identify and correct
a lot of the shortcomings in this industry. We focus on customer
service and delivering high quality content based (newsletter format)
media to our recipients.
SCGP: How does your service accomplish Canspam compliance?
Mr. Rockefeller: We go beyond Can-Spam in every way. Ironically
we feel the name for the law is well chosen. The law more or less
gives every Company on the Internet the legal right to Spam. Still,
just because it's legal does not mean it is ethical. Putting the
wrong message in front of a worldwide or National audience, in the
wrong manner will turn people off. Legal or not.
What we do here at Opt In Plus is completely ahead of the curve
We have full time/date stamp and source stamps for every single
record on our network. We are able to cross reference by ID Handle
and track every choice a subscriber makes in realtime. Unsubscribes
are immediately handled, our recipients are given subscription choices.
We fully disclose our network and where the email originates. Reply
mail is hand sorted, we publish our physical address and phone number.
We clearly mark the content of the newsletter, avoid using misleading
subject lines and of course disclaim that the newsletter contains
advertising. We send out real content such as technology news, science,
gadget news, and related material to a general consumer audience.
Our readership is extensive and our unsubscription rate is very
very low. Our response rates out-perform our comeptitors 5 to 1
and I'm not just talking about open rate and click through. Our
subscribers are intelligent buyers. They trust us not to spam them
with Viagara, XXX sites, Chain letters, and other questionable material.
We are very financially focused. By this I mean anything related
to home loans, auto loans, personal loans, business loans, insurance,
investments, credit repair, debt consolidation, franchise and network
marketing offers, these are the types of products and services that
our customers respond to. They also respond heavily to technology
related products and services.
SCGP: Is your list opt-in or double opt-in?
Mr. Rockefeller: Portions of it are double opt in and portions
of it are singular. Every record has time/date ip stamp and source
at a minimum.
SCGP: What makes your service better than the rest?
Mr. Rockefeller: We generate a very high rate of response and
our demographics are well off American families. We are customer
service oriented. We offer guaranteed response rates. We provide
realtime statistics tracking and every customer is treated as though
they are our only customer. It is our sole ambition to make our
campaigns produce a high ROI in order to earn their long term business.
We are a smaller network with limited capacity. This is an advantage
because our customers are treated with absolute honesty and integrity.
We are choosey with who becomes our customers in the first place.
We are not interested in blowing out 50 million emails a day. That
in our mind is what Can-Spam is all about and why the general public
is fed up.
SCGP: How successful is your service in helping someone
achieve their marketing goals?
Mr. Rockefeller: We have a reference list several pages long.
Available upon request. Our customers close more deals for us than
our sales people do.
SCGP: Why is your service better than email lists, or better
than the other marketing services out there? ( if you are a list
provider, then switch this question around ie. why is your list
better than using an email service etc.)
Mr. Rockefeller: Our service produces a very high rate of response.
We are scalable and offer highly competitive pricing with firms
that measure up to our high standards. This is not a chop shop and
it is not a wholesale bulk email isp. We are a legitmate marketing
firm and when you put us to work for you, and do a comparison against
our competition you'll find that our response rate is second to
none. At the end of the day it's all about ROI and people in this
industry are really hung up on cpm's like somehow if you pay less
you are getting a better deal. It's absurd.
SCGP: Have you had any canspam complaints?
Mr. Rockefeller: We have had no canspam related complaints.
Like anyone else in this business we have generated a spam complaint
or two, however we can cross reference back to the database and
we clarify every matter by phone or email. Period. No one has filed
a legitmate complaint against us that has stuck.
