Jordan's PA K-9 Academy Website Design
Proposal
The above page was designed as an enticement for
a site update. We looked at his site as it sat, and were trying
to think of ways to possibly improve Mr. Jordan's image. We did
send off this site example, and offered the banners we created along
with the rottweiler shields that we created and told him that he
could use them if he wanted. We never heard back from him on the
example and assume that he wanted to stay with his present site
design. If you would like, you can view Mr. Jordan's site as it
sits now at the following link Jordan's
PA K-9 Academy
The picture of the academy is the sole property of
Mr. Jordan and Jordan's PA K-9 Academy, and was reproduced here
as a means to show our design abilities. We in no way claim any
rights to the ownership of this image.
After looking at Mr. Jordan's site, we took some
of the text ideas that were already there and came up with our own
slant on his present design. We felt that the serene setting offered
by his academy picture would work well for the site backdrop, and
also give potential customers an idea of the surroundings that their
loved ones would be around. We felt that was important to show the
room available so that pets could run somewhat free in a relaxing
and quiet environment. We chose to texturize the background to give
the serenity we were trying to convey an almost tangible quality.
The image in the bottom right was compiled through
multiple images and selecting the dogs out of them. This image was
designed to show the scope of experience Mr. Jordan has with training
dogs of different breeds and habits. We thought it was important
to show potential customers Mr. Jordan's diversity. The whole design
was to support comfort and get visitors to feel comfortable with
sending their beloved pets to Mr. Jordan for their training needs.
When we were visiting Mr. Jordan's site, we did not
see any working banners that others could use to link to his site.
With search engines and their increased ability to rank sites based
on other sites linking to them, we felt that a banner to entice
other sites to link to Mr. Jordan's would be beneficial. It is also
fact that although text links work, they don't work quite as well
as a banner add. We didn't want to limit Mr. Jordan's ability in
that area.
The top banner is static, and we wanted to use that
as page header throughout the site. It puts all the relevant information
before a potential customer's eyes, and reminds them of where they
are at. The bottom banner is animated and designed to draw a person's
eyes to it. We added that in this page example just to show it,
but planned on putting it on a page with other banners that webmasters
could chose from to link to Mr. Jordan's site. In retrospect, it
does flash a bit quickly, but it does have all the same information
that the static banner has. It is also fairly easy to edit the flash
rate with PhotoShop, but we left it as is because this was the initial
images and design ideas sent to Mr. Jordan at the time.
Our idea was to inform the potential customer while
promoting a feeling of calmness and reassurance for Mr. Jordan and
his staff's abilities to train or board their pet. We also wanted
to make sure that Mr. Jordan and his staff remained just as professional
in an online appearance as they are in person. Yes, we know of Mr.
Jordan and his abilities. He staffs a well trained group of trainers
that are completely capable of working with and training just about
any kind of dog you can imagine. Mr. Jordan is also a well respected
figure in the community and his character is above reproach. In
summary, he is a man of his word, and delivers what he promises.
We wanted to convey these things to people that do not know him,
or his academy.
We also created some images for Mr. Jordan to use
for print material. We had noticed a ball cap that Mr. Jordan used
as promotional attire ( get customers and friends to wear your advertisement,
better than billboards ), and wanted to improve the look. Nothing
against what he had, but to us, it looked a little cartoonish in
design. So we decided to create a more realistic looking design
for him. That design can be seen here. We
will also continue our discussion at that link.
